Short answer: No official reason has been given. Soma Chems, the research supplier that took over from Amino Asylum in 2025, has stopped taking orders, and its website now shows one short message: “Our store is no longer accepting new orders. Thanks for your support!” The company has not explained the closure, and we did not find any agency or court record that names it.
When a long-running shop closes, people have questions, and that is perfectly natural. In this post we will walk through what has been publicly reported, what has not, and how the amino formulations Soma Chems listed compare, ingredient by ingredient, with the Aminos category at Modern Aminos. We will keep to the facts we can point to, and we will say so plainly when something is not known.
A Brief History of Soma Chems
Soma Chems began as a continuation of an older store. For years, researchers knew the business as Amino Asylum, a supplier of research compounds and amino blends. In June 2025, the original Amino Asylum storefront went offline and did not come back, according to Curo.
Soon after, the business carried on under the Soma Chems name. Independent trackers such as Finnrick report that the original aminoasylum.shop address now routes visitors to Soma Chems, and Soma Chems was widely understood to be Amino Asylum under a new name.
Soma Chems went on to sell amino blends, peptides and other research compounds through 2026. In October 2026, the store stopped accepting new orders.
Why Did Soma Chems Close?
The honest answer is that no one has said. Soma Chems did not post a reason on its website. Community discussions, such as a thread on PeptideCritic, asked the same question, but they did not find an official explanation either.
Some in the research community have speculated that regulatory pressure played a part. It’s unclear whether that is true. We searched for public agency releases, warning letters and court records and did not find any that name Soma Chems or Amino Asylum. What is clear is that the research compound industry as a whole has seen increased regulatory scrutiny over the past two years, and several other long-running suppliers have also closed. Until the company or an official source says more, the reason remains unknown.
What happened to Amino Asylum?
The same uncertainty applies to Amino Asylum. Raid reports spread online when it went dark, but trackers that looked for documents, including Curo and The Peptide Digest, report that no FDA or DOJ release, indictment or charging document naming Amino Asylum has been identified, and that a widely repeated guilty-plea story actually belongs to a different, unrelated company. The reports exist, the official records do not, and no official reason has been given.
How do Soma Chems amino blends compare with Modern Aminos?

Many researchers who used Amino Asylum and Soma Chems were working with their amino blends. To make comparison simple, we lined up each amino formulation listed in the Soma Chems Aminos category (as captured in an archived copy of that page from October 11, 2026) with the closest product in our own Aminos category. Their concentrations are as they published them. Ours come from our formulation records.
| Soma Chems product | Published composition (per mL) | Closest Modern Aminos product | Modern Aminos composition (per mL) | How they compare |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B-12 | 1 mg/mL (form not stated) | Vitamin B12 (20 mL) | Methylcobalamin 2,500 mcg/mL | Same vitamin, different stated form and concentration |
| L-Carnitine | 200, 400 or 600 mg/mL | L-Carnitine (20 mL) | L-Carnitine 600 mg/mL | Same compound; matches their 600 mg/mL option |
| Power Blitz | L-Carnitine 400 mg/mL, ATP 40 mg/mL, AMP 5 mg/mL | Carnitine + Arginine Based Amino Blend; ATP/AMP/NALT Based Amino Blend | L-Carnitine 400 mg/mL with L-Arginine HCl and L-Ornithine HCl 100 mg/mL each; ATP and AMP with NAD+, TMG, CDP-Choline, NALT and L-Arginine HCl | L-Carnitine 400 mg/mL matches one blend; ATP and AMP appear in the other |
| Neuro Spark | Choline chloride 200 mg, L-Carnosine 200 mg, ATP 40 mg, AMP 5 mg | ATP/AMP/NALT Based Amino Blend | ATP, AMP, CDP-Choline, NAD+, TMG, NALT, L-Arginine HCl | Shares ATP, AMP and a choline source (CDP-Choline rather than choline chloride) |
| Energy Lipo Mix | L-Carnitine 200 mg/mL, B12 250 mcg/mL, B6 25 mg/mL, Inositol 50 mg/mL, Methionine 25 mg/mL, Choline 50 mg/mL | Carnitine / Choline Based Amino Blend | CDP-Choline 300 mg/mL, L-Carnitine 200 mg/mL | Same L-Carnitine level (200 mg/mL); different choline source; no lipotropic vitamins |
| XXL Pump | L-Arginine, L-Citrulline, L-Ornithine, L-Glutamine 100 mg/mL each; Glycine, L-Lysine, Taurine 50 mg/mL each; BCAA 2:1:1 5 mg/mL | BCAA Based Amino Blend; L-Arginine Based Amino Blend | BCAAs 2:1:1 (L-Leucine 10, L-Isoleucine 5, L-Valine 5 mg/mL) with L-Arginine HCl, L-Citrulline, L-Glutamine, Taurine, L-Lysine HCl, Glycine; L-Arginine HCl, L-Citrulline, L-Ornithine HCl 100 mg/mL each | The BCAA blend shares nearly the whole ingredient list; the L-Arginine blend shares the arginine, citrulline and ornithine trio |

| NAD+ | 100 mg/mL | NAD+ (20 mL) | NAD+ | Same compound |
| Acetyl-D-Glucosamine | Listed as a standalone product | MSM Based Amino Blend | N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine 150 mg/mL, Chondroitin sulfate 40 mg/mL, MSM 40 mg/mL | Shares N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine |
What this tells us: most Soma Chems amino formulations were built from a small set of familiar building blocks, mainly L-Carnitine, the arginine, citrulline and ornithine trio, BCAAs, nucleotides like ATP and AMP, and choline sources. Our blends use many of the same building blocks, sometimes at the same concentration and sometimes in a different salt form, such as L-Arginine HCl instead of the free base. A few items in their Aminos category were not amino formulations at all, so we have not matched them.
Aminos category product pages are available to signed-in customers. If you are not signed in, you can find each product by name after logging in to your account.
Is there a Soma Chems or Amino Asylum coupon code?
For anyone who was searching for a Soma Chems coupon code or an Amino Asylum coupon code, we have set up two codes:
- SOMACHEMS: 15% off all products in the Aminos category
- AMINOASYLUM: 15% off all products in the Aminos category
One code can be used per order, and the codes cannot be combined with other coupons.
What other Soma Chems compounds does Modern Aminos carry?
Outside the amino blends, Soma Chems also listed several short peptide bioregulators that we carry as lyophilized research compounds: Bronchogen, Cardiogen and Chonluten. Each product page lists the sequence, molecular weight and lot certificate of analysis.
A word about Soma Chems and Amino Asylum
Closing a business is a big decision, and it is theirs to make. Modern Aminos respects that decision, and we wish the people behind Soma Chems and Amino Asylum the very best in whatever comes next. If you are a researcher looking for a new place to source amino formulations, we are glad to help you compare compositions and certificates of analysis so you can find what fits your work.
Frequently asked questions
Has Soma Chems closed?
Yes. As of October 2026, the Soma Chems website shows a single notice: “Our store is no longer accepting new orders. Thanks for your support!”
Was Soma Chems the same company as Amino Asylum?
Public reporting says yes. Amino Asylum went offline in June 2025, and independent trackers report that its original web address now routes visitors to Soma Chems. Soma Chems has been widely described as the same shop operating under a new name.
Why did Soma Chems close?
No official reason has been given. Soma Chems did not explain the closure on its own website, and we did not find any agency or court record that names the company. Anything beyond that is speculation.
Why did Amino Asylum shut down?
It is unclear. Raid reports circulated online, but no agency release, warning letter or court filing naming Amino Asylum has been found, and no official reason has been given.
Do the Soma Chems or Amino Asylum coupon codes still work?
Their old codes no longer work anywhere, because neither store is taking orders. At Modern Aminos, the codes SOMACHEMS and AMINOASYLUM each take 15% off products in the Aminos category. One code can be used per order, and they cannot be combined with other coupons.
How should I read the composition comparison table?
The table lines up formulations by shared components, using concentrations each store published. A match means the formulas share key ingredients, not that they are identical. Always compare the full label and certificate of analysis for the specific lot.
